resorting emails by date order after move/copy to sub folder ?

Voytek Eymont
Hi,

I have SM since forever if not longer, works well, thanks.

I have moved using Squirrel some emails from a folder (tag/select, move;
tag/select, move) to another, after move, they are now in order of move
rather than original mail order.

I've asked dovecot folks how to re-sort, but, they suggested my Squirrel
install is broken if sort order changed, hence my query here

thanks, V

----
You are using SquirrelMail version: 1.5.2 [SVN]
The administrator installed the following plugins:
none installed

dovecot 2.x
apache
postfix

SquirrelMail configtest
SquirrelMail version: 1.5.2 [SVN]
Config file version: 1.5.0
Config file last modified: 10 May 2016 12:18:09

Checking PHP configuration...
PHP version 5.3.3 OK. (You have: 5.3.3. Minimum: 4.1.0)
    Running as N/A(N/A) / N/A(N/A)
display_errors: 1 (overridden with 1 for this page only)
error_reporting: 22527 (overridden with 30719 for this page only)
    variables_order OK: GPCS.
PHP extensions OK. Dynamic loading is disabled.

WARNING: You have configured PHP not to allow short tags
(short_open_tag=off). This shouldn't be a problem with SquirrelMail or
any plugin coded coded according to the SquirrelMail Coding
Guidelines, but if you experience problems with PHP code being
displayed in some of the pages and changing setting to "on" solves the
problem, please file a bug report against the failing plugin. The
correct contact information is most likely to be found in the plugin
documentation.
Checking paths...
    Data dir OK.
    Attachment dir OK.
Checking plugins...
Plugins are not enabled in config.
    Themes OK.
    Default language OK.
Base URL detected as: http://xxx:443/webmail/src (location base
autodetected)
Checking outgoing mail service....
SMTP server OK (220 xxx ESMTP Postfix)
Checking IMAP service....
    IMAP server ready (* OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR
LOGIN-REFERRALS ID ENABLE IDLE STARTTLS AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN] Dovecot
ready.)
    IMAP STARTTLS extension looks OK.
    Capabilities: * CAPABILITY IMAP4rev1 LITERAL+ SASL-IR LOGIN-REFERRALS
ID ENABLE IDLE AUTH=PLAIN AUTH=LOGIN
Checking internationalization (i18n) settings...
gettext - Gettext functions are available. On some systems you must
have appropriate system locales compiled.
Test translations. This test is not accurate and might work only
on some systems.
mbstring - Mbstring functions are available.
recode - Recode functions are unavailable.
iconv - Iconv functions are available.
timezone - Webmail users can change their time zone settings. Current
time zone is AEST.
Checking database functions...
    not using database functionality.
Checking LDAP functions...
    not using LDAP functionality.
Summary

No fatal errors were found, but there was at least 1 warning. Please check
the flagged issue(s) carefully, as correcting them may prevent erratic,
undefined, or incorrect behavior (or flat out breakage).

Re: resorting emails by date order after move/copy to sub folder ?

Julien Métairie
Hi,

Check this thread :
https://www.mail-archive.com/squirrelmail-users@.../msg33718.html

When sorting by date, the date of last modification is used instead of the
"date:" header field.
I think this behavior is by design to avoid overwhelming the server.

Regards,
Julien
