Sorry about not including enough info, but the thread in the archives
with exactly my problem ends with "this shouldn't happen" there is no
solution.  I'm using UW-imap, apache 2, php 4.3.11,  spam_button version
1.0 with Squirrelmail 1.4.4 on fc3 all but uw-imap installed through
rpm.  These are my installed  plugins:

   Installed Plugins
     1. delete_move_next
     2. squirrelspell
     3. newmail
     4. filters
     5. calendar
     6. message_details
     7. mail_fetch
     8. address_add 2.0
     9. html_mail 2.2
     10. administrator
     11. compatibility 2.0.1
     12. vacation_local 2.0
     13. askuserinfo  1.0

The ones without versions are what came with my 1.4.4 squirrelmail.  I
don't see any errors in the logs, but I'm looking in /var/log...is there
extra logging inside squirrelmail somewhere.  All I see is the mail
being sent from the reporter to the original recipient of the mail
(either the reporter or a list the reporter is on).

That is probably the older thread.  There has been a more recent one
with Ricardo Stella with a bunch of debugging suggestions.  Gmane is
your best bet.  Also, note that BOTH threads do in fact give a solution,
even though it is a hack.  If you have the time, PLEASE do not opt for
the hack and help find the bug.

I am wanting MTA info.  I am guessing that you use Sendmail also, but
please confirm.

See list archive -- if you can't find the recent threads let me know.
They have suggestions for inserting your own debugging code.

I was on gmane and I didn't see that, I'll look again.  Sure I've got
time if you want.  I'll do what I can to help.

I'm still here, though beginning of the semester and too many other
fires to put out, so I haven't been able to follow up on this.

I would ask, are you configuring SM to 'use sendmail' or to 'use smtp'
?  Cause, afaik, even if you are using postfix, it could be locally
using the sendmail alias to send out messages...
